How To – Jailbreak iPhone 4S, iPad 2 On iOS 5.0.1 Using Absinthe (Windows)

The long awaiting jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 was just released, Initially it was only for Mac users as Windows and Linux users were left behind.

But new tool Absinthe by Chronic Dev Team has been released for Windows too and they have kept it simple like a piece of cake like it was for Mac as anyone with A5 device can use it.

See below for a step by step guide on jailbreaking your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 using Absinthe on Windows.

Absinthe is a simple GUI tool which is designed to untethered jailbreak for the following devices and firmwares:

iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0, 5.0.1 (9A405 and 9A406)
iPad 2 Wifi/GSM/CDMA running iOS 5.0.1

Absinthe iOS 5.0.1 Jailbreak For iPhone 4S/iPad 2

NOTE: Please make sure you have took the full back up of your device before beginning with connecting to the iTunes.

Step 1: Download the compressed Absinthe package from the link given below. Extract all files and run the executable file.

Step 2: Connect your iPad 2 or iPhone 4S to your Mac computer using a USB cable and launch the Absinthe tool and you will be presented with a GUI box as shown below:

Step 3: You will notice a button on the right hand side of the Absinthe program which says ‘Jailbreak’. Once your device is connected this button will be highlighted, click that button to start the process. You will see words ‘Restoring in Progress’ on the screen. So, don’t be alarmed and please do not touch the device, the process can be quite time consuming.

Step 4: Once the restore is completed, unlock your iPhone / iPad and look for the ‘Absinthe’ icon which you can find on device’s Springboard. Connect your device with WiFi. Tapping the icon will launch the GreenPois0n website, and then your device will reboot. After the reboot is completed, You will notice that Absinthe icon will now have replaced with Cydia icon.

NOTE: If you are receiving an ‘Error establishing connection’ message at this step, exit to your Springboard and be patient. The website servers are experiencing a massive increase in traffic so just keep trying to launch the Absinthe ‘app’. Alternatively, as a quick fix you can head over to the SETTINGS > GENERAL > NETWORK > VPN entry and then toggle VPN to ‘on’. This will cause an error message to be generated, which will reboot your device when dismissed. You can then launch the Absinthe icon again.

Step 5: Now your device is booted into a jailbroken state. You can now launch Cydia and follow through the process of setting up your favorite tweaks. Have Fun!

Rumored Facebook Phone is True, Named “Buffy” and will Run Android [Report]

Finally the long rumored and awaited Facebook Phone is going to happen for real. According to AllThingsD, Facebook the social networking giant is currently working with a cell phone manufacturer to build its own Facebook targeted phone.

Report also mentioned that this phone will be called ‘Buffy’ and will be launched in next year and half or may be sooner. According to the report, the phone is “proposed to run on a modified version of Android that Facebook has tweaked hard to integrate its services, this phone will also support HTML5 as a platform for applications.

Apple Siri is Cracked! Now can be used on Android, Windows or Any iPhone

Yeah folks, this is BIG news. Siri can now be ported to any device. A French engineering company, Applidium has managed to crack Siri. Comapny claimed that they have successfully cracked the Siri’s security protocol that made Siri limited to iPhone 4S only and now you can install and run Siri on any device you want like Android and Windows.

This as well includes all model of the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Siri is now limited to the iPhone 4S only but now it can be run on any iOS device and even on non-iOS devices.

This is a great news for developers too because they can now integrate Siri inside their apps too.

The iPhone 4S really sends raw audio data. It’s compressed using the Speex audio codec, which makes sense as it’s a codec specifically tailored for VoIP.The iPhone 4S sends identifiers everywhere. So if you want to use Siri on another device, you still need the identfier of at least one iPhone 4S. Of course we’re not publishing ours, but it’s very easy to retrieve one using the tools we’ve written. Of course Apple could blacklist an identifier, but as long as you’re keeping it for personal use, that should be alright!

The french company also found that Apple uses a lot of information when it communicates with its servers and user’s iPhone:

The protocol is actually very, very chatty. Your iPhone sends a tons of things to Apple’s servers. And those servers reply an incredible amount of informations. For example, when you’re using text-to-speech, Apple’s server even reply a confidence score and the timestamp of each word.

There’s only one bad news; you will need a UDID of an iPhone 4S to make this crack in working on your device so now at anytime Apple could block the UDID you used.

Moreover, Siri was successfully ported to the iPhone 4 and iPod touch couple of weeks back. It has been also connected to Apple’s servers successfully.

Ellis Hamburger over BusinessInsider claims that Facebook Timeline is coming to iPhone and its amazing. According to him Facebook is releasing a fresh update soon for its famous iPhone app with new Facebok Timeline profile features. The new profile design which was introduced in Facebook’s F8 conference in September 2011 and currently only available to developers accounts but soon everyone will have option to change their profiles to Facebook Timeline. We’d really wanted to have Timeline profile in iPhone App.

Just wait until you see Timeline in action on a touch screen device. It’s so good it will make you want to skip the desktop experience and just use Facebook on your iPhone. Timeline is built to be manipulated on a touch screen.

Swiping through the years of your life is effortless, and Flynn even showed me a slick new feature that lets you take pictures “in line” inside your Timeline. In this way, you can see exactly how the pictures will look once they’re posted.

Hamburger says that he had a chance to hands on to this new iPhone app at press function in New York yesterday and it looks ‘incredible’.

The Teamlead designer for this new Facebook’s mobile Timeline interface told Hamburger that the feature is releasing soon but it’s not ready yet.

iPhone 4S was released in October with new exploit and there are still no untethered jailbreaks for iOS 5.0 yet. However, we have got many cool features without Jailbreak requirement.

A lot of folks are still unfamiliar how to set custom shortcuts of your favorite settings as WiFi and Airplane mode without having any jailbroken tweaks. In this tutorial you’ll learn how to set all your favorite settings without jailbreaking your iDevice.

First we use IconProject to make the customized icons with particular URL links to ensure their settings app sections. You can buy IconProject from the app store for just $0.99. It is very easy to use and so far the best app of its kinda.

It is not a replacement for SBSettings as it can be toggle anywhere in iOS but it is a good alternate for the time being un till the full untethered jailbreak will be available. It also provides shortcut for setting apps.

Who Invented And Sold Siri To Apple?

Siri is a helper app in the iOS 5.0 for iPhone 4S. Since it has been released in iPhone 4S, everyone has been discussing its features and It has gained popularity in the whole world in the short time. Today we have discovered some history about this great feature e.g. Siri didn’t invented in Cupertino like most of the Apple and iOS products. It was rumored, which now appears to be correct when it is revealed that Apple has bought Siri in $200 million.

Siri was originally invented by a 44 year old Norwegian Dag Kittlaus. Dag Kittlaus was the co-founder of Siri who became an fast millionaire after selling his conception to Apple. He also mentioned that he got a call by Apple and it was Steve Jobs himself. Steve asked that he want a possible acquisition of Kittlaus team and their Siri technology.

Of course it was a great moment when Steve Jobs called and wanted to buy my company. It was surreal. When I heard that it was him, I knew we had made it big. In advance, we were pretty confident that the technology we had developed was so startling that we would get some kind of breakthrough. Steve was the first caller.

Siri in Norwegian means “beautiful victorious counselor”. Kittlaus spent 18 months developing with Apple before leaving the company in October. He also quoted that the iPhone team at Apple are not working for money but they just want to create fantastic products with some extra ordinary ideas.

Apple Accepts iOS 5.0.1 Did NOT Fixed Battery Issues [REPORT]

After releasing the iOS 5.0.1 yesterday, a lot of people are still reporting battery draining problems on their iOS devices after they have updated to iOS 5.0. Apple claimed that new iOS mobile OS has planned especially to counter the issues of battery draining life.

AllThingsD confirmed that Apple is still inquiring the complaints about the battery life to discover the solution of this issue. Apple said in a statement.

“The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices,” the company said in a statement. “We continue to investigate a few remaining issues.”

Apple Released iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone 4S and iPad 2

Apple released the final version of iOS 5.0.1 for public for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users today. The new iOS 5.0.1 update claims to fix the battery draining issues on iPhone 4S and bringing back multitasking gesture to the original iPad.

You can get the update by downloading the firmware IPSW file official from Apple or it’s also offered by over-the-air (OTA) feature for those of you who already running iOS 5.0. You can get it by going through Settings > General > Software Update.

The update also fixed for the security flaw discovered by Charlie Miller. Keep in mind that untethered jailbreak, iPhone 4S jailbreak and iPad 2 is not available yet, So if you want it you have to wait.

Meanwhitel, MuscleNerd also warned from upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 because there is no way to downgrade from iOS 5.0.1 to iOS 5:

Apple Announces iPhone 5 Media Event “Let’s Talk iPhone” On Oct 4th

Finally, Apple has officially announced an media event for Oct 4th at their campuses at Infinite Loop, Cupertino, CA. The event will start at 10:00 am Pacific Time.

The info arrives directly from Apple as they just sent out invitations to media outlets for this event. The number of news about this event, and the new product announcements were all over our heads for couple of weeks.

This is gonna be a really crucial event for Apple for many reasons: it is the first event under the presentations of new CEO Tim Cook who is supposed to present the keynote and that it is also expected to announce the next-generation hardware.

We have been listening many matters regarding this event lately. Two crucial reports came up from All Things D which correctly claimed that the iPhone event would be held in the start of October and that it would be held on campus in Cupertino, CA.

Although we are not sure until the real announcements are made, But according to the reports, and one member of Apple Board of Directors, on that point there are total of four possibl products will be be announced: a 3G-ready fifth generation iPod touch, a low-end iPhone 4 meant for people who can not afford high end smartphones, and a new iPhone 4 with a dual-core A5 chip and, the next generation high-end iPhone (could be the iPhone 5).

How To – Install Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread On Galaxy S II [Guide]

Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread ROM was leaked for the Samsung Galaxy S II today. If you wanna install this leaked ROM you can follow the steps below.

This leaked ROM comes from SAM Firmware in association with some people behind custom aftermarket firmware DarkyROM. Flashing it on your Samsung Galaxy S II doesn’t take too much effort, provided that your phone is already rooted and has ClockworkMod recovery flashed.

How To Flash Leaked Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread On Samsung Galaxy S II

DISCLAIMER: Slashable is not to be held responsible for any loss of data as a result of the malfunctioning of your Samsung Galaxy S II.

Before you start, it is necessary that your Samsung Galaxy S II (this ROM will not work on any other device) is rooted and has the custom ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery installed on it. In order to flash CWM, you can follow two steps below. Now make sure that your phone is fully-charged.

How to Flash flash CWM on Samsung Galaxy S II:

Step 1: Download and install ROM Manager [Market Link] on your GSII.

Step 2: Launch ROM Manager. Now tap on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery and pick Samsung Galaxy S II from the list of smartphones. Your phone will reboot.

Everything should be ready now. Now lets install Gingerbread:

Step 1: Download DarkyROM2_KI3_Base.zip [SourceForge Link] to your computer.

Step 2: Once download is complete, transfer the .zip file to the root (parent directory) of your phone’s internal storage after connecting it to your computer via USB.

Step 3: Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S II. Now, hold Volume Up + Home + Power/Lock button until you boot into ClockworkMod Recovery.

Step 4: Using the volume up/down, home and back keys, navigate to backup and storage > backup.

This is called taking a nandroid backup of your Android device. You can use this later on if you want to revert to your current ROM.

Step 5: With backup complete, let’s move on to the actual flashing process. Download DarkyROM2 tool [Market Link] to your device.

Step 6: Launch DarkyROM2 tool. Go to DarkyROM tab and enable Wipe user data from there.

Step 7: Go back to General tab > Flash/Install File from SDCARD > DarkyROM2_KI3_Base.zip.

Step 8: Sit back and relax as Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread with TouchWiz 4.0 is flashed to your Galaxy S II.

So, If you followed the steps correctly, you should now have Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread installed on your Samsung Galaxy S II.

How To – Enable WiFi-Sync In iOS 5 With iTunes

iOS 5 bringing many new features, one of them is WiFi Sync with iTunes. WiFi Sync iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch can now Sync using WiFi with iTunes without using any cables.

In order to enable Wi-Fi sync you have to complete following requirements:
- iOS 5
- iTunes 10.5
- WiFi connection
- A USB cable for the initial sync

If you completed the above requirements, follow the step-by-step guide below to enable WiFi Sync.

How to Enable WiFi-Sync in iOS 5:
1- Install iOS 5 on your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch (Skip this step if you’re already running iOS 5)
2- Make sure you’re running iTunes 10.5 or later on your computer
3- Connect your computer and your iDevice to the same WiFi network or access point.
4- Open iTunes, Plug in your idevice into your computer
5- In iTunes, go to Summary tab under your connected device, check mark/enable the “Sync over Wi-Fi connection” option ad Sync it while USB still connected.

Thats all, now you can unplug the USB connection and sync your iPhone with iTunes wirelessly over the same WiFi network.
You can start the Wi-Fi Sync from your iPhone under (Settings -> General -> iTunes Wi-Fi Sync)

A little WiFi-Sync working circle appears next to WiFi icon on your iPhone when you start the wireless sync.

This method has become viral on Facebook today, and came up with a post by Buzzfeed. A website that is known to latest viral trends and tips.

As this technique uses the Facebook Timeline feature, you’ll have to activate it first. Timeline Is not accessible for everybody at the moment, but we have published a step by step guide on how to enable Facebook Timeline which you have to follow must before you find out the people who have unfriended you.

So if you have enabled the Facebook Timeline, follow the four steps posted below:

A new feature in Facebook, TImeline has been annouced by Facebook today. This new feature give you the access to go back to 80′s and 90′s or the to the special days of your past life to add phots and videos. These information will then visible to your friends who will scroll down in your Timeline.

Many of the user can find this feature creepy, that Facebook is keeping thre records for everything you have ever done in your life and on Facebook.

Although this feature has been announced, it is not yet accessible to the public – but to developers only. If you believe you can hold the thought of reading your Facebook life story then there is a way you could do so right now.

Moreover, it will ask you to follow the commands carefully. Before we begin, there are a few things that you should better understand:

It’s still in development process, so don’t expect this to run as smoothly as FarmVille.
Your timeline will be only available to you to see.
If you login on a another computer, timeline is disabled, but it can be recovered (once you’ve accomplished the instructions the guide below) by following this link: http://www.facebook.com/YOURUSERNAME?sk=timeline
