Chief of iPhone Hardware Design Leaves Apple

According to The New York Times, Mark Papermaster, the Apple executive in charge of iPhone hardware engineering has left the company in the wake of iPhone 4 Antennagate crises. This is still not sure whether Mark Papermaster was forced out of Apple or he made his own decision to leave the company, however he was not present in the last month’s special iPhone 4 press conference so he might be forced out according to John Gruber.

From what I’ve heard, it’s pretty clear he was canned. Papermaster was a conspicuous absence at the Antennagate press conference.

Mark Papermaster was the Senior Vice President of iPhone hardware and lead executive in charge in the company and now as he is out of the company, Bob Mansfield, the Senior Vice President of Macintosh hardware engineering will take charge of his position. [via New York Times]
