At last, as promised iPhone dev team has released Ultrasn0w version 1.0-1 for any GSM carrier unlocking of iPhone 4, iPhone 3Gs and iPhone 3G. This is a great new for US based iPhone 4 users who stuck with the AT&T network because carrier unlock for US needs complete rewrite of Ultrasn0w because of new baseband of iPhone 4. Ultrasn0w 1.0-1 works with the iOS 4.0 firmware.
Because Apple is selling unlocked iPhone 4s for international market, it is only the USA users who are bound to AT&T networks. So if you want to change the network to T-mobile etc, you can use Ultrasn0w version 1.0-1 to carrier unlock your iPhone 4.

Step 1: How to Jailbreak iPhone 4 on iOS 4.0.1
To unlock the iPhone 4, you need to jailbreak your iPhone 4 first on latest firmware. Follow the complete step by step process posted here to jailbreak your iPhone 4 on iOS 4.0.1 / 4.0 using JailbreakMe. This porcess will add Cydia to your Springboard.
Step 2: How to Unlock iPhone 4 on iOS 4.0.1
Once you are done with Jailbreak, you can now unlock your iPhone 4 using Ultrasn0w 1.0-1 from Cydia, Open Cydia from your Springboard.
Step 3: Select the Manage tab from the bottom of the screen.
Step 4: Select the Sources button.
Step 5: If the ultrasn0w rep is not added in the sources, then touch “Edit” then touch on “Add” and this will take you to add the URL source, Add “http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com” and touch “Add Source” to add the repo.
Step 6: Once the source is added, touch the “Return to Cydia” button.
Step 7: Press the “Done” button at the top right of the screen.
Step 8: Select “repo666.ultrasn0w.com” from the user entered sources.
Step 9: Select “ultrasn0w” from the list.
Step 10: Touch the “Install” button at the top right corner of the screen.
Step 11: Touch the “Confirm” button from the top right corner, this will start installation.
Step 12: After the installation process completed , press Return to Cydia button.
Step 13: Now press the Home button then power off and power on the iPhone. You do this by holding down the power button for 3 seconds then moving the power slider that appears to the right. Press the power button again to turn on the phone.
Step 14: Now you can insert the SIM card of your choice, it will work fine.
Note T-Mobile US users: T-Mobile US user will have to disable 3G by navigation to: Settings->General->Network and turning the “Enable 3G” switch to OFF before installing the ultrasn0w unlock.
